Wood Stove Pipe Line - The work covered by this contract involved demolition
and salvage of 4260 feet of 11 ft. diameter wood stove pipe and reconstruction of
an equivalent pipe including new concrete foundations, new steel saddles, new
stoves, bands and all other accessories. Time was the critical point of this
contract, the Utah Power and Light Company being able to shut down their Grace,
Idaho plant only thirty days. All preparations for the work was performed ahead
of time, procurement and distribution of materials and supplies along the right
of way. Actual demolition and reconstruction of the 4260 linear feet of pipe re-
quired only eighteen days of three shift construction. Filling, testing, repairing
and adjusting were carried on for eight more days. Just twenty-six days after
commencing work the pipe line was back in operation and the Grace Powerhouse
put back on line, four days less than allowed under the contract.
