Content Description +/-

The Hubert C. Lambert Papers includes binders, slides, note cards, and copies of the Utah Geozoic News. The collection was donated to Weber State University by Beth Lambert in 2001. The binders are housed in forty-six boxes, with four to six binders in each box. They are arranged alphabetically, and each binder is listed with beginning and ending entries. They contain mostly hand written notes. The notes contain descriptions of various places worldwide, with the majority of sites in the American West. Information on small towns in the binders may contain population trends, major roadways, railroads, square mile area, elevation, and history. Geological descriptions include shorelines, dams, rivers, and peaks, formations and time periods. There are thirty-eight boxes of note cards, which are also arranged alphabetically, and listed with the beginning and the ending entries. The note cards were probably used by Mr. Lambert to prepare lectures. They are typed and color-coded. Pink cards represent the first card for a given state or area. Blue cards are for roads and highways. White cards focus on one place; a river, town etc. Yellow cards represent an index for the slides. Additionally in box number eighty-five under “lectures” there is another index for the slides. The first column of numbers is the original file number and is no longer used, the second column of numbers contains the number that corresponds to the number on the slides. The note cards starting in box number eighty-three through box number eighty-five are on various subjects, while the others boxes all contain cards on various places, mostly in the United States. The slides are from all over the United States, Mexico and Canada. Many were taken in Utah and the West. They contain photos of landscapes, mountains, rivers, lakes, geological formations, and rarely people. They are arranged alphabetically by county and state. They are listed with the first county and state in the box and the last county and state in the box. Other states in each box are also listed. Each slide is numbered on the slide, starting over again for each county. The first slide for each county is usually the county courthouse for that county. There are fifty slide boxes. The Utah Geozoic News was the official paper of the Wasatch Geozoic Society. It was published monthly from January 1969 to January/February 1974. It contains information concerning field trips and monthly meetings of the Society. Each issue is about twenty pages of typescript. There are two copies of each issue.
