Salt Lake City, Utah. July 18th, 1901. David Eccles Esq., Ogden, Utah. Dear Brother:- Without any solicitation on my part Elder Heber J. Grant took it upon himself to ask a number of his friends to join with him in contributing to make up a purse for my benefit. While I have spent many years in missionary work I have never felt to appeal to my friends for assistance, but nevertheless I appreciate the motives which prompted Brother Grant to make this appeal and my heart is full of gratitude and thanksgiving to those who have so generously responded. I thank you with all my heart for your contribution of two hundred dollars to the fund which has been presented to me by Brother Grant. Praying the Lord to bless you abundantly and reward you for your generosity, I remain, Sincerely your friend and brother, Lewis A. Kelsch.
