Hon. David Eccles.
Baker City, Oregon. Dear Friend:
Yours of 14th and 15th just received. I return herewith the Shurtliff stock changed as you suggest, that is to say: the old certificate of 8 Preferred shares, and a newcertificate for 4 Common shares; please sign this as well as the new check for $870.00; I also return the old check for $970.00 which please destroy and then void the stub for that chcek, so that we will keep the account straight. Mr. Wattis and Judge Dee are both out of town so I cannot find out how much stock to make out for Berry, but as soon as I can ascertain the amount, I will mail you the stock, and charge it to your account, and then you will have to settle with the other gentlemen:
In regard to Andersons transportation he came and told me on Sunday that I was to get his transportation, and remembering what you told me to get it, I wrote to Bancroft and got his transportation, and he is now in Lehi. The letter from you regarding this matter did not reach me until this morning.
With respect to the Western Expanded Metal Co. settlement, I learn that Mr. Bailey has gone to California, in view of which I thought it unnecessary to make any settlements until you return, unless you desire me to do it sooner. I find he has left a man at the work to finish up little details.
Everything here has gone along nicely. Spencer has gone to the Lime quarry this morning to arrange for rock. The crop is looking immense. Weather hot, hot, hot. Kinds regards to everybody.
