Baker City? ore. Dear Friend:
On Wednesday forenoon Judge Dee a: d I will leave Ogden, and arrive in LaGrande on Thursday morning, July 31st, for the purpose of holding a stock¬holders meeting of the LaGrande Sugar Factory and pass formal resolutions transferring the property to the Amalgamated Co. Now, it Is necessary that all the existing directors shall be present or at least notified of the meeting; of course Cutler has sold out, and him we need not trouble about. But yourself, and Bro. Eccles and Stoddard and Joseph West as Secretary, should be actually present. Of course if you cannot get West conveniently we can get along without him and elect another secretary; so also with Wm. Eccles, if it is not convenient for him to be present, I suppose we could still have a majority of a regular Board of directors to do business , and that is all that is necessary. I understand the President has gone to Portland, so I must ask you to kindly look after this matter, and see that sufficient people are there next Thursday to do the business, as Judge Dee must return to Utah at once. I will probably stay a few days and get ac¬quainted with the financial affairs of the institution.
But above all, and as the most important matter submitted to you, we have both transportation over the R. R. as far as Huntingt on, and as you know it is contrary to all just principles of the ""de gang"" to pay R. R. fares, we shall look to you to in some way arrange for our transportation from Huntington to LaGrande. Please advise us of your success in these matter
