Ogden Utah 4-25-1913 My dear Brother Laurie:- I have been thinking of you so many times to-day and wondering what you were doing and if you were well and all night Last night I was dreaming of you I thought you came in where I was and I seemed to be in a strange place- and you had just about an inch of a cigar left that you had been smoking. I just rushed at you and knocked it out of your hand and then began to use some of my most dramatic english and you in turn used some of your good a com. how we came out I don't remember so I can't tell you. Now why should people have such crazy dreams is what I would like to know. I have just felt a little as if I would like to hear from you but mama is not at home this afternoon so I can't tell what was in her letter yestirday untill she comes home tonight. Mama-Maude and Florence are gone to a party so I am informed a few minutes ago. Parties are getting so common with them that I don't even know when they go any more. They all went in Maudes "Broc." I tell you they are a sporty lot. If you could only see them trot off in that old wagon you would think they were mighty nice.
Pg 2 Well Laurie things have been thick and fast since you were last at home havent they? For this week we have had Rosa and Joe come home and taken little Richard and had him circumcised He got along just fine. I watched him all through the operation and I don't think it is anything to be sneezed at either. To see him under the old anasthetic is just horrid but he aid so well that we are all very well pleased with him. He is getting so cute and talks in his own language so much you would just love him so much if you could see how nice he is. Edith is staying with Florence for a few days. playing nurse and she is a real good one and Richard likes her very much. Edith has just done fine since she came home seems perfectly content and well. The first time she saw your brother-in-law she was going out of our house to the Broc. she and Maude had just jumped in the Broc and sat down and turned her back in him. I am sure she feels a great deal safer and better off since she is rid of him. It is very pitiable to see him try and walk alone along the street. he goes by feeling wit a cane and he does just fine, his is a very pitiable person even if he is wicked, but wait till you
Pg 3 see some of his Grand Stand plays and them you feel hard toward him. Every time the people come down and he Knows it he just prominades up and down for their benefit. He called me up the other day and said I was trying to keep the children away from him and I told him he was mistaken they could come and see him when ever they pleased then he got mad and told me if I would call up ww Richards I would find out what rights he had so I up and told him I didnt need and information from any one I knew what I was doing and going to do too. so then he said the old house needed cleaning and he wished I would ask Edith to clean it and accused us of being dirty and og it being "the diriest place I ever see" We are now wondering who is eyes for hime. I just told him when I got ready I would do what I pleased and not untill so when he found there were two stupid people in the world and he was one and me the other he just stopped trying to goad me and then wanted to be real nice to me but just at that point I said good by. so I left him wondering what was what and why. He will be some older before I will stoop to quarrel with him. Well Laurie Rosa and Joe seem to be very glad to be at home. Joe just looks fine. I am then
Pg 4 beside of him. He had only been home an hour or so before he had his car out and was off they have ridden every day and do seem so glad to be here. Rosa is quite changed in some ways, ways that make her lots better and more pleasant. She seems to have come to the conclusion that other people know some few things at least. I am very glad they could go and glad they are back. Now when you come home we can be happy. Mama was positively elated when Rosa came she had just stood her being away as long as she could. Porr mama she does so hate people to be away from home. She says every time I ask her about you "God bless him he is my boy" The folks have some men at work up the canyon planting lawn, trees and fitting up in general. Am says it looks just fine but I havent been up there never seems to be room for me so I stay at home. The Burgulers didnt hurt much as we know of yet only slipt on mama's bed. you can imagine how mad that made her. and broke some of the windows and turned everything upside down. We have had a real cold spell but it seems a great deal warmer today, to I guess we will have some more spring now. Everything seems as pretty and green and the early

I have had lots of trouble with dust in our house from the fact that our cold spell came with about a week of wind first and as the road was all dug up form 16= to 13= making a double track for the street car and all the travel was on our side of the track we came in for quite a good share of the loose real estate of the road. It was just a most disquieting thing you could hardly breathe on our side of the road I said I was going to move and sell out to the first buyer who came for anything above half price but I guess I will have to re-consider and be sane. Well Laurie I guess you will be tired by now of my prattle. I can not write any more intelligently than I can talk and knowing me so well I am sure you won't expect anything very great. I hope you are well and doing well at school. Am glad you went to St Louis and glad you had a nice time. Don't like the SL Louis girl too much we have some at home just as nice and then if you like home girls we can keep you with us but if it is girls at a distance I am afraid you will wander off from us and that would break my heart as well as some half dozen others. Mama told me of the little misunderstanding between you and Helen. I have nothing to say only
Pg 6 What ever it is be good to her and make her suffer as little as possible for I know she thinks lots of you and you of her. You will in after life never regret doing justly by her and also by your self. If she is in the wrong let her come to you if it is you. Be a man and acknowledge it Personally I neither want to make nor break any ties that you have formed between your selves. In the end who ever it is that you marry I shall like them just as much as I possibly can for your sake and because I love you so very much and am very proud of you. Now be a good boy and take everything I have said in the light that I meant it and send me a nice long letter real soon.
