January 30 19-19 Montmedy France. Mother Mine. Received your letter of the seventh with Amer Exp check for 1076 francs. The check was made out in numbers for that amount but when written it only said 176 francs. so of course at present cannot be cashed. The Lieut is leaving for Paris tomorrow where he will see what can be done about it there but will ask you to have the bank that issued it wire the correct amount to the Amer Express Co Paris Now to explain about the check. I do not need the money especially, as I have money. I wrote my dear saving wife to put that amount to my credit, so that if I could be demobilized in France, could pay my fare home, and save possibly a couple of months in the army, but then she may need the money she has for another trip. I will hold this money for emergency, now that it is here and I certainly cant express thanks for your thoughtfulness. Things seem to point to an early demobilization for us, that is in the next two months, at least. Dont know how long that means in the army but hope not long as Dutch wrote that my business had gone under. So want to get back to work and clear it up. With her saving ability, it should not take us long? Some times distance clears the vision. Had a letter from Theron a few days ago and he still is expecting to get back soon, also he is well and is keeping me supplied with tobacco and chocolate. Jack hasnt written for ages, so dont know any news concerning him. We (the section) have received a citation Corps des Armee Croix de Guerre with gold star for our last work of the war. Am enclosing a copy. Well Mother Mine, I am As Ever Your Son Ted. TO, Mrs. Florence Littlefield 2528 Madison Ave. Ogden, Utah U.S.A. FROM, E.A. Littlefield SSU 64R Par BCM Paris France.
